In Psalms 41:9 " Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me." I sat and I looked at this verse over and over. Here is a man who has experienced rejection and betrayal from a very close friend. I am not sure if there is a more earth shattering experience in life than to experience hurt from an individual that you should have never experienced it from.
In Psalms 42, the whole chapter caught my attention as it starts off with the Psalmist expressing his hunger for God. He then talks about how he is downcast and his soul is disquieted within him. I admire how that in verses 5 and 11, then again in chapter 43:5, he says that he will hope in God and that he will yet praise him.
Even when we are downtrodden, downcast, or we experience pain from a person who should never have hurt us, we must continue to stay close to the Lord. We must praise Him in the storms of life. He is always worthy.
