The Talents

We've all heard the story of the three servants and the talents. (Matthew 25:14-30)

But today I read it again and noticed this, it says

30 And cast ye out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth."

Matt 25:30

Christ used parables to describe future things and I can't help but wonder whether or not Christ will say to those 'christians' who aren't fruitful I never knew you depart from me. And cast them into hell.

After all the bible does say you will know them by their fruit.

  1. The one thing to remember when studying the Scriptures, is that if we are correct with our interpretation, it will always coincide with the entirety of the Scriptures.
I have read those verses and thought the same thing. After all, the man was a servant. However, we must remember that we do not gain heaven because of what we do or don't do, but rather, because of what Jesus has DONE!!!
Therefore, I do not believe that that is the correct interpretation.
I do not necessarily have an interpretation to present at this time. Sometimes their are places in the Bible we just have to accept, even though we don't understand.
Somewhere, all of Christianity has gotten the idea that we are supposed to understand the whole Bible and if we don't shame on us. Very untrue. There are things that my parents told me when I was a child that didn't make any sense to to me. It didn't mean that they weren't true. It meant that due to my present conditions that I could not understand them. I believe the same applies to the Scriptures. God Bless!!!

  2. Perhaps this is the correct interpretation. A true believer will produce fruit. An apple tree produces apples. It would be impossible for a true believer to be unprofitable in any way. Just a thought.
